The North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG) encourages local governments to support solar energy projects within their communities as a strategy to mitigate load on conventional power plants and increase grid resiliency. One way to support solar is to become designated as a SolSmart community. SolSmart is a national designation program recognizing communities supporting solar growth and helping to reduce the barriers to solar adoption. Six cities in North Texas have already received designation!
Join
NCTCOG for the North Texas SolSmart Roundtable to learn about what it means to be SolSmart, the designation process, and the experiences of cities that have already been designated. Attendees will here from the Solar Foundation about the SolSmart Program, the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) regarding the SolarAPP tool, Solar United Neighbors (SUN) over their mission and impact in Texas, and North Texas cities about their experience becoming SolSmart designated.
Anyone interested in learning more about the SolSmart designation process or has questions about becoming designated is invited to attend!
